Artist's Statement   To capture the individuality, personality and presence of a person is my main interest in painting a portrait. It is of great importance to meet the model with respect and sympathy in order to be capable to communicate a natural, emotional and affectionate image.
Background and surroundings in the painting often refer in a sometimes rather joyful and sometimes rather serious way to the person's characteristics, preferences or activities. The choice of colour is influenced by the portayed person's own sensuality.

Statement      Firstly I need to know and understand the purpose that stands behind the commisson. Then it is about getting to know the person he'll be painting. It's about creating a common ground of confidence. Listening and watching; body language, movements, sensuality all helps me to know my model. According to these impressions and according to the client's wishes and expectations I develop a first idea and concept of the portrait. Then I will take photographs which will serve as basic information. With the photographs I try to get a vivid and natural image. After that the actual work on the painting begins starting with acrylic paint and finishing in oil. The creative process takes approximately six months from start to finish of the portrait.
I also undertake posthumous portraits.
