Portfolio for David Lloyd - Commissionaportrait

David Lloyd has been developing his skills as a painter of buildings and associated scenes over the past ten years and has successfully built up his reputation with both corporate and private collectors. In 1995 and again in 1996 he held successful one-man exhibitions in Highgate and in 1997 in Burgh House, Hampstead. Previous exhibitions included the Law Society in 1994 and another at the Middle Temple Library. In 1998 he exhibited at the Inner Temple and was commissioned to paint five views within the Temple for postcards. David Lloyd has travelled extensively during the past few years, visiting India, Australia and Europe accompanied by his sketchbook, giving added colour and verve to his paintings.
Selected Commissions   1997 2 Temple Place - The London Headquarters of Smith & Nephew
1998 Chelsea Harbour for P&O
1999 A selection of paintings of both the interior and exterior of the Royal Courts of Justice which were reproduced for postcards and Christmas cards.
A painting of Temple Court for the Honourable Society of The Inner Temple reproduced as a Christmas card and a number of commissions from barristers and private clients
2001 One man exhibition at Wildy's bookshop in Fleet Street, 'The Inns of Court and Nearby' Christmas cards and house portraits for business and private clients
In 1999 and 2001 David Lloyd visited Portugal to undertake a series of paintings for two of the leading Port Wine companies in Porto. In addition to the above he has exhibited regularly in Essex and his works have been shown at other venues, including the Institute of Directors and exhibitions sponsored by the CBI, Harrods Picture Gallery and the Oporto British Club, Portugal.

Statement      David Lloyd considers it essential to be able to visit the property, view it from various aspects and do a series of rough sketches before working on the proposed painting. As with portraiture one gains an understanding of the particular features and setting of a building which reflect the character in the final work. He prefers to do most of his work on site although circumstances do not always permit this and final work may be done in his studio.
Ideally the artist would prefer to be able to have two days on site although circumstances may either not require this or be difficult to achieve geographically, in which case back up sketches and photos make it possible to complete in the studio.
