Portfolio for Owen Turville - Commissionaportrait
Owen Turville is a very accomplished artist in many fields and enjoys the challenge of painting to commission. After art school he was selected by the legendary decorator, John Fowler, as his personal assistant from whom he acquired a most valuable training in all aspects of eighteenth century design and decoration.
Owen is a specialist in murals, trompe l'oeil, landscapes, flower painting, painting on silk and portraits. He has also been consulted on and undertaken many interior decoration schemes involving marbling and the application of subtle paint effects for the National Trust, interior decorators and private clients. His large-scale interior and exterior murals have included: landscape, jungle, ancient Egyptian, and architectural designs both in this country and in Mexico, South Africa and Italy. |

Murals
After an initial consultation on site or viewing of plans and elevations, I usually gather reference material from the client and make my own research in order to rough out ideas. These are presented at the next meeting for discussion and the selection of a possible scheme. At this stage I usually give a rough idea of price based on whether the work is to be executed on or off site. I then proceed with scale drawings for presentation to the client. The time involved in the preparation of these designs will be included in the final estimate.
Portraits
I work from photographs, taken by myself and/or supplied by the sitter/client. I would need one or two sittings for sketching, photography and discussion of requirements, etc., at an agreed location. The painting would then be executed in oils, in my studio. A final sitting with the completed work may be required in order to make small adjustments. |
