| Artist's Statement |
I treat a portrait as any other painting. Although capturing a likeness is the basic requirement, the most interesting and difficult part is to make the painting work on a number of different levels. I try to avoid mannerisms associated with style so that each painting develops a unique character of its own. |

| Statement |
At an initial first meeting, basic requirements are discussed. If possible I prefer to work from sittings, usually 2 or 3, of 2 to 3 hours each. With young children I usually take a number of photographs and finish with sittings. |
