Artist's Statement   My work results from my profound interest in the human face and the subtle nuance of features and expression that enable us to discern and indentify each other. Our faces are a reflection of a life lived and give silent voice to our thoughts and personality. A portrait will always be the combination of sitter and artist and captures the process of communication between the two at that moment in time.

Statement      An initial meeting with the client to discuss the required nature of the portrait after which I require up to five sittings lasting approximately 2 hours each, during the first of these I will often take photographs to work from between sittings. I prefer to work from life, however when this is not possible I can work from several good photographs. For young children I require one or two short meetings during which I make sketches and take photographs.
