Portfolio for Rebecca Faulding - Commissionaportrait

Rebecca is originally from Lincolnshire and is now based in East Lothian, painting from her studio in Edinburgh. As someone who always showed a great interest in drawing and painting she went on to study at Edinburgh College of Art gaining direct entry into second year. Since her successful sell-out degree show in 2001 she has continued to have success as both a portrait and figurative artist. Her portrait subjects have varied from young children to portraits for family collections. Rebecca’s style remains, loose, delicate and fresh with demand for her work taking her all over the country.

Artist's Statement   “When I produce a portrait I not only aim to capture the likeness but also the essence of the person.”

Statement      Following discussion over the phone about the portrait a meeting is arranged with the sitter for a photographic session. This takes approximately 2 hours in which time I take a large number of photographs usually of a variety of poses until I am satisfied with the result. I then look through my photographs until I am certain I have an image I can work with. Occasionally a second photographic session may be required. Having had approval on my choice by the client I then proceed with the painting. to the specified size on a hand stretched and prepared canvas. The whole process can take from 3 to 5 months to complete.
Please note that multiple portraits will be painted on seperate canvasses as diptychs, triptychs or series of multiple panels.

Press Quotes
“The Edinburgh based artist's brightly coloured oil portraits have become increasingly popular.....previous commissions range from the son of Lord Elgin well as portraits of children."
