Portfolio for Sophie Pecko - Commissionaportrait

Sophie Pecko was born in London of Polish descent. She has been passionately drawn to painting and drawing ever since she can remember and feels intensely about everything she creates. This, combined with a deep interest in people, makes her ideally suited to portraiture. Each portrait is unique, endeavouring to catch the individuality of the sitter. It is very important for her to create a portrait that will please both herself and the client. Her work hangs in many private collections and two of her portraits recently featured in BBC2's Newsnight programme.

Artist's Statement   I try very hard to get to know, fulfill and hopefully exceed the client's expectations and aspire to create a work that will be cherished by this and future generations.

Statement      Generally a session of approximately two hours with the sitter is all the time that is required. This can be at a location chosen by the client or at Sophie's West London home. At this session photographs and notes will be taken and sketches may be made. The client's tastes and wishes are very important and all aspects of the portrait can be discussed. A favourite place, belongings, or a pet can be included in the portrait. Children may be portrayed with their favourite toy or book, or in fancy dress. Sophie always prefers to get to know her sitters before she paints them.

A large number of digital photographs will be taken to be used as source material. This method of working is particularly suited for sitters who do not have the time or the inclination to sit still for hours (e.g. busy people, children and pets!)

Ideally, at least one month should be allowed between the sitting and the finished painting, depending on size and number of sitters. Drawings usually need a minimum of one to two weeks. However, in special circumstances these time scales can be shortened.

Posthumous portraits can be undertaken if Sophie is happy with the quality of the photographs provided.
