Statement |
|
It might seem obvious but meeting and getting to know the sitter is the most crucial part of the process. Essentially a portrait arises out of series of shared moments between artist and sitter and naturally these are different every time that's what makes a portrait unique. Time is precious so sketches and photographs can give me visual references but it is personal interaction that turns a painting into a portrait. My aim is for the viewer to see the person before the painting. |
