Artist's Statement   “My philosophy is to do good work and be judged by the result. I also have a desire to please my clients, and to portray the best in my sitters. I like children, and find them easy to get on with – I have four of my own. I am also interested in the dynamics of family life, and group portraits are a speciality."

Statement      “My sittings are really pain free. I like to talk to the sitter, do sketches, take photographs and do a couple of half-hour poses. I generally do this in just one sitting. I like to go to the client’s home, to get a feel of how they live, what paintings they like, and because they are probably more relaxed at home. Several sketches and sittings are normally required before a portrait is ready and I sometimes work from photographs especially when drawing children who can become fidgety. My prices include a mount (conservation grade) but not framing, although I am happy to organise this or offer advice."

Press Quotes
“Bringing up a family and studying human skulls have helped Xanthe Moseley to become one of the West Country’s more successful portrait artists. Natural talent, determination and the ability to capture the mood of the subject could also be added to the stack of attributes that enable Xanthe to accurately portray a human face, young or old.”
— Andrew Mosley, ‘Country Persuits’, 2000.
