Budding Hobart artist Hilton Owen, 19, has won a new Tasmanian art competition for his work Self-Portrait With Cow.
Forty-three emerging artists aged 13 to 30 entered the Tasmanian Youth Portrait Prize.
Competition organiser Felicity Harris says Owen's painting of himself standing next to a cow was the standout winner.
'It's actually quite an amazing portrait,' she said.
'It's got him and then quite a large cow, and he's got his hands outstretched and he's smiling with his cow.
'It's quite a cute portrait actually.'
For winning, Hilton receives $5,000 and a trip for two to Sydney to see the Archibald Prize.
'I believe his work has already been sold, which is quite exciting for him,' Ms Harris added.
'He'll get a lot of recognition from having his work tour around the state.'
