What is a Portrait Commission?

A portrait commission can be a drawing, painting, sculpture, miniature, caricature, cameo and photograph of any subject you like. The most typical subject will be one of the following: People, children, pets, houses, equestrian, and marine portraits. You can also commission our artists to copy paintings, either from the original or from photographs. The replica painting will be an almost identical copy of the original. This is particularly of interest to interior designers, families with ancestral portraits, which no longer belong to them, or collectors who cannot afford the original, or prefer to keep the original in the bank vault!

How can the web site help you?

The web site has been designed to help you find and commission the most appropriate artist. Each artist has an extensive portfolio and there are various tools, such as the "ideas basket" or the "short list" available to help you refine your selection enabling you to narrow the list of artists available down to the right artist.

Free Advice

We offer free advice either at our office, located near Tate Modern on the telephone, or at your home. With any of these options we can help you go through the list of our artists and help you arrive at the most appropriate artist of your choice. There are many benefits; in particular we can see the interior of your home and give more specific advice on the type of portrait that would best suit your requirements with a better knowledge of your own personal lifestyle.
